About the role
Orion needs a tech lead who can scale a security company, not a custody product. You will shape how auditors work — report pipelines, client portals, and internal automation — while mentoring senior ICs and keeping engagements on time without cutting review depth.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end architecture across React surfaces, Node.js APIs, and protocol integration boundaries
- Drive technical roadmap with founders — sequence risk, cut scope surgically, protect long-term leverage
- Establish engineering standards: reviews, testing, observability, and incident habits from day one
- Unblock senior engineers and raise the quality of design docs, ADRs, and tradeoff discussions
- Partner with Security, Product, and design-partner conversations so technical reality stays visible
Requirements
- Track record leading multi-disciplinary engineering work on complex product systems
- Hands-on credibility in modern web stacks (React + Node.js) plus sound distributed-systems instincts
- Ability to make crisp architectural calls and explain them to both engineers and non-engineers
- Experience raising the bar through hiring, mentoring, and rigorous but humane review culture
- Comfort operating in ambiguity — pre-launch, high ownership, low process theater
Nice to have
- Background in fintech, custody, payments, or other regulated infrastructure
- Prior founding / early-stage tech lead experience
- Familiarity with cryptographic or blockchain product constraints
- History of shipping design-partner or enterprise-facing platforms
